Content Management System

Office of Strategic Communications

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall conception, design and approval of "web templates" (including navigation, color, fonts, etc.). Approved templates will be forwarded to C&C, to units with their own technical staff, etc. for inclusion in a "palette" of available choices for Content Providers to select from.
  • Strategic Communications will also be responsible for creating, supporting, and disseminating information on "best practices and approaches" relating to content creation and content updating (this is extremely important since departmental focus should shift from web page design and support to content creation and management; these non-technical "content management" skills are not widely distributed across campus).
  • Strategic Communications will participate in all new, major web development initiatives, providing input and guidance on design issues, layout, etc. After developers / organizations have created templates, approaches, etc. that meet campus development standards, the Strategic Communications formal involvement will lessen. However, Strategic Communications will still be included in significant modifications / upgrades to existing web sites, templates, etc.
